Women who have previously given birth with caesarean section may have a normal childbirth at the next birth.<\/p>\n
The procedure is called Vbac (i.e. Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). Contrary to the view that prevailed earlier, modern obstetric practice considers such a birth absolutely secure. Since there is no medical reason to require another caesarean section, every woman should know that vaginal delivery is a viable option for both herself and her baby.<\/p>\n
Why should a woman choose Vbac instead of yet another caesarean section:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2981 less pain after childbirth<\/p>\n \u2981 shorter recovery period and shorter stay in the maternity ward<\/p>\n \u2981 lower risk of infection<\/p>\n \u2981 to have the experience of a normal childbirth<\/p>\n \u2981 to avoid even a hack in the uterus, which may increase the likelihood of problems in a subsequent pregnancy<\/p>\n It is very rare to “open” a previous caesarean section during a vaginal delivery. Any risk is further removed if the previous cesarean section is performed with a low transverse incision and vaginal delivery is not caused by medication.
