Obstetrician – Gynecological Surgeon

Dr. Nikolopoulos is a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE), the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP), the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare of the United Kingdom (DFSRH), the Hellenic Society of Assisted Reproduction Physicians, and the General Medical Council (GMC) of the United Kingdom.

Biography

George Nikolopoulos was born in Athens in 1970. He graduated from the Franco-Hellenic School Leonteios Lyceum in 1988 and was admitted to the Medical School of the University of Athens the same year through the national entrance examinations. He graduated in 1994 with distinction. Following the completion of his rural medical service in Ioannina and his compulsory military service, he was accepted into specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the United Kingdom.
During his specialist training, he worked in six hospitals across England and Scotland, gaining extensive experience in all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, including high-risk pregnancy care, advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, obstetric and gynecological ultrasound, colposcopy and cervical pathology, infertility, and in vitro fertilization (IVF).
After completing his specialty training, Dr. Nikolopoulos worked for three years as a consultant in the United Kingdom, further specializing in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, infertility, and assisted reproduction. During this period, he was involved in the full spectrum of fertility care, including advanced IVF treatments and modern assisted reproductive techniques.
In 2004, after six years abroad, he returned to Greece. He worked at the IVF units of Embio and Diagnosis until 2010 and subsequently at the Athens IVF Center from 2010 to December 2015. Between 2004 and 2021, he also collaborated with IASO Hospital, contributing to the Departments of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopic Surgery, and IVF. Alongside his private practice, Dr. Nikolopoulos joined the medical team of MITERA Maternity Hospital in February 2021, part of the HYGEIA Group, the largest healthcare provider in Greece. His role within the group also includes collaboration with the HYGEIA IVF Assisted Reproduction Unit.
